Valentine’s Day In
Valentine’s Day is a week from Sunday! To have a romantically sweet Valentine’s Day in with your sweetheart, our local Arlington businesses have you covered. Here is my own Valentine’s plan:
Dinner: Green Pig Bistro, 1025 N. Filmore St., Suite D, Clarendon
My favorite Arlington restaurant, Green Pig Bistro, serves sustainable French-inspired cuisine using only the finest ingredients. Lucky for us, they have curated a “hearty, not heavy” menu for Valentine’s Day. Choose from five different mains that come with a choice of soup, up to three sides, and dessert (although you should save room for cookies, see below). Each main order serves two. Check out the menu here. Be sure to place your order by Wednesday, February 10. Pickup can be arranged at Green Pig on Valentine’s day between 3pm and 6pm.
Wine: The Brew Shop, 2004 Wilson Blvd., Courthouse; Arrowine & Cheese, 4508 Lee Hwy, Lee Heights Shops
Last week, I shared a fabulous spot to pick up a bottle of wine – The Brew Shop in Courthouse. Another great option is Arrowine at the Lee Heights Shops. Arrowine has a massive selection of wines, hand-selected from all over the world. Every time I have shopped there, the staff has been so incredibly friendly and helpful. (They also have a great selection of cheese, craft beer, and various gourmet grocery items!) Arrowine does not allow in-store shopping at this time due to Covid, but you can make an order for pickup.
Dessert: Village Sweet, 5872 Washington Blvd., Westover
End your romantic dinner with something sweet. Place an order with Westover bakery Village Sweet for a high-quality and delicious cookie, artfully decorated. Or, place an order to make your own – right now Village Sweet is offering Valentine’s Day cookie decorating kits. Place your order for pre-decorated or not cookies by Thursday, February 11 by emailing info@villagesweetbakery.com. Be sure to let them know when you want to come by to pick them up.
Candles: Le Village Marche, 2800 South Randolph St #110A, Shirlington
Le Village Marche in Shirlington has a wide selection of beautiful candles in all shapes, scents, and sizes to set the perfect mood. From their Chandelier candles that come in three-wick, travel and votive sizes in scents such as Italian Bergamot, Lavender and Lime, and Olive Leaf to their adorable pure beeswax votives in the shape of a beehive, there are plenty of options to make your night special. While you are at it, pick up a gift for your sweetheart – Le Village Marche is one of my favorite places for that. You can shop in person during the shop’s modified schedule, Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 5pm. Or you can shop online with two to three-day shipping or in-store pickup.
Flowers: Stem and Thistle
It would not be Valentine’s Day without flowers. Whether you are looking for a stunning bouquet for your romantic centerpiece or want to go over the top and get out of this world floral decorations for your home, Stem and Thistle in Arlington is the place to go. The arrangements they create are not just beautiful but are often whimsical or edgy and are always creative.
