Sweater Weather – Finally!

Many of us have been wishing for sweater weather…and it has finally arrived!

At Scout & Molly’s, we carry sweaters from several designers – French Connection, 525 America, Sanctuary, Charlie B, Clara Sunwoo, Black Tape, Dex, Shy + Sky and many more. We love all of our designers – each is unique and their sweaters are awesome.

But, I have to say that I’ve been blown away by how popular our Kerisma RYU sweaters have been. Kerisma is a versatile knitwear line consciously designed for creative, intelligent, and free-spirited women. It is a family-owned and operated business founded by a father/daughter duo. Given my partnership with my daughter, Betsy, you can understand how I was drawn to this father/daughter line. Kerisma offers many sweater styles, but the top RYU styles have taken our stores by storm.

These are very soft sweaters made with 3/4 length dolman sleeves that come in two sizes – s/m and m/l.  They universally fit all body types. The fabric is 50 percent viscose, 24 percent nylon, and 26 percent polyester. I could tell you story after story about customers buying one and then calling me a day later after they’ve spent a day wearing it, asking me to put aside other colors for them to come in to pick up. The top four styles are:

Ryu Top —  boat neck

Ryu “Mock” Top — higher neckline

Ryu “Slope” Top — boat neck with a diagonal stripe pattern

Ryu “V-Neck” Top – flattering V neckline

Each style comes in a variety of colors. These sweaters are yummy soft and can be the perfect top for denim or a classy top for a dressy outfit.

I am new to the fashion world and loving it. My daughter, Betsy, and I own two Scout & Molly’s Boutiques – one in Reston Town Center and one in Ballston Quarter. Our stores are part of a franchise that allows its owners to curate their own collections. So, we are able to match the vendors and designs we bring into our stores to our customers. Thus, you will find unique items in both of our stores. In our Ballston store you will find trendy, reasonably priced clothes for a casual outing, your workday, and special occasions along with lots of fun accessories and gift ideas! Before Betsy and I started this adventure, I enjoyed a career in the private sector offering consulting services to small and medium sized companies. I also devoted a lot of my time to health, educational, cultural, and social service boards. Most recently, I served as Chairman of the Congressional Commission to Study the Potential for an American Women’s History Museum as part of the Smithsonian.

We truly believe that no one style fits all and that we have to have choices for our customers so that she can find something that makes her feel beautiful and comfortable. Our stylists can help our clients step outside their comfort zone, find new trends and approaches to their style in a comfortable environment.

Our team believes that we should always treat each person that walks through our doors like we want to be treated and we strive to do that each and every day. We take our clients seriously. They become like family, stopping to see what’s new and to catch up with their favorite stylist. We hope that our clients feel like they are shopping in their best friend’s closet.
