Favorite Arlington Spots (That I Learned About from My Clients): 2020 Edition

As we approach Arlington Stylebook’s one-year anniversary, I thought it would be fitting to revisit my first post where I shared my favorite Arlington spots that my clients told me about. So, I reached out to some of my Arlington clients from over this past year to get their favorites. I hope they become your favorites, too:

Emily and Josh: Arlington Farmers Market (Courthouse)

The Arlington Farmers Market, located in the Courthouse parking lot at 1400 N Courthouse Road, is one of the largest in our region. Shoppers can enjoy the rows of produce, meats, cheeses, artisanal goods, and more on Saturday mornings almost year-round. The main season spans from mid-April through the end of December from 8am – 12:30pm. January through March, the Market is open from 9am – 12pm.

Why it’s their favorite: “Nothing beats having farm-fresh produce just steps from your home. We love strolling through the Arlington Farmers Market and picking out seasonal ingredients each week. It’s hard to not come home with more bags than you can carry!”

Jim: The Brew Shop (Courthouse)

Just steps away from the Arlington Farmers Market, the Brew Shop (2004 Wilson Boulevard) offers a great selection of craft beer, craft beer tools for the aspiring home-brewer, and wine for purchase.

Why it’s his favorite: “They have the best selection of craft beer in the area, and also an excellent stock of supplies for home brewers. And better still, they’ve added an amazing wine selection. They are not an overwhelming warehouse store, but rather they offer a personally selected stock of great wine choices, with helpful cards to describe each one. The staff is low-key, friendly, and helpful in answering your questions and guiding you to the best option. They also do wine tastings and beer samples on Fridays, and they have the best monthly wine club in the whole Washington Metro Area. I don’t go anywhere else!”

Elizabeth and Van: Lebanese Taverna (Various Locations)

Lebanese Taverna is a long established – since 1979! – Lebanese restaurant that started in Westover and now has expanded to twelve locations throughout the D.C. metro area. There are four locations in Arlington. Two are full-service restaurants: the original spot in Westover (5900 Washington Boulevard) and the beautiful Pentagon Row location (1101 South Joyce Street). One is a new fast-casual Lebtav located in Ballston (4000 Wilson Boulevard). And, there is the Lebanese Taverna Market in Lee Heights (4400 Old Dominion).

Why it’s their favorite: “After spending seven months away during the pandemic, it was the first meal we wanted when we returned because it reminds us so much of home. We love the people who work there, the delicious food, and the fact that they deliver during these crazy times!”

Amy: Potomac Overlook Regional Park (North Arlington)

Set on 67 acres in North Arlington just southeast of the Belview Forest neighborhood, Potomac Overlook Regional Park offers miles of trails, education programs, summer nature camps, and more.

Why it’s her favorite: “Potomac Overlook has such natural beauty right in our backyard. It feels like it is miles away, but it is tucked right into one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Arlington!”

Jeff: The Italian Store (Two Locations)

Local staple, The Italian Store is a family-owned gourmet Italian specialty shop and deli that has been around for more than thirty years. Most of the items sold at The Italian Store are sourced from Italy. You can visit the Lyon Village (5837 Washington Boulevard) or Westover (3123 Lee Highway) location.

Why it’s his favorite: “The Italian Store is a local gem. It has the best pizza and the best specialty foods imported from Italy. It has things you cannot get anywhere else. Also, the frozen and refrigerated meals ready to ‘heat and eat’ taste like your Italian grandma slow cooked them all day!”

Christina: My Condo at The Residences at Liberty Center (Ballston)

The Residences at Liberty Center is one of the premier condo buildings in Ballston. Located at 888 N Quincy Street, The Residences at Liberty Center are the closest condo building to Ballston Quarter. The building has world-class amenities, including a rooftop pool, rooftop gym, 24-hour concierge, and club room. I recently sold Christina’s beautiful two-bedroom plus den there. (And my colleague Amy Golden and I have a fabulous one-bedroom with den currently for sale that has D.C. monument views.)

Why it’s her favorite: “My favorite spot is my condo home in Ballston Quarter because from there I can walk anywhere I want or need to go – Metro stops (two), the library, my gym, the post office, the grocery store, my nail salon, my massage therapist, my dry cleaner, great restaurants, and parks. Those are just some of the conveniences I love!”
