Wow, a lot has changed since Thanksgiving last year! For example, the annual Arlington Turkey Trot is going virtual and the Smithsonian will not be open on Thanksgiving, as has been a fun tradition. I remember writing about ordering a “takeout” Thanksgiving last year as if it was a somewhat novel idea. Now takeout Thanksgiving is more of a norm. Most people I know will be having a more modest Thanksgiving at home with immediate family – myself included – and instead of cooking a large meal, they are looking to our local restaurants to fill their table. And, that is if they are having a traditional Thanksgiving meal at all. I think ordering out this year is a great idea; not only will you avoid the grocery store, but you will also be supporting our local businesses. Here are a handful of Arlington Restaurants offering delicious Thanksgiving meals that we can all be grateful for. Click the links for a full menu.
Order Deadline: November 19 @ 5pm
Pickup: November 25 until 5pm
Cost: $80 for 2; $155 for 4-6
Highlights: Traditional sides (cranberry relish, garlic mashed potatoes, sage stuffing, and more), two entrees (choose between roasted turkey breast with gravy, beef tenderloin with chianti jus, or maple glazed ham), and a dessert (pumpkin or pecan pie slices). Options to add additional sides, appetizers, whole pies, cocktails, and wine for an additional charge. Directions for reheating will be provided.
Order Deadline: None specified.
Pickup: November 25 through 12pm on Thanksgiving Day
Cost: $130 for Turkey Dinner; $230 Prime Rib Dinner
Highlights: The turkey in the Turkey Dinner comes whole and is slow smoked and is accompanied by 8oz of cranberry sauce, a quart of stuffing, gravy, and your choice of three sides. The prime rib in the Prime Rib Dinner is a 7lb smoked prime rib that comes with au jus and choice of four sides. The side choices included mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, cream corn, collard greens, and cream spinach.
Order Deadline: Up to Thanksgiving Day, while supplies last (don’t wait until the last minute!)
Pickup: 11am – 7pm Thanksgiving Day
Cost: $28 for 1; $108 for four
Highlights: Choice between two mains (oven roasted turkey or honey roasted ham), choice of three sides (e.g., sweet potato purée, apple sausage and sage stuffing, maple glazed baby carrots, and more). Option to order additional entrees (gnocchi and/or cider-glazed salmon) or sides, dessert (e.g., maple pumpkin pie), cocktails, and wine.
Order Deadline: November 23 @ 12pm (order early, as availability may be limited!)
Pickup: Arrange when you order. Early pickup or delivery will come with reheating instructions.
Cost: Varies depending on what you pick and choose from the Holiday Menu.
Highlights: Appetizers (e.g., crab and artichoke dip, whole brie with cranberry orange relish, deviled eggs, and more), mains (from smoked turkey to grilled beef tenderloin to grilled pork tenderloin), finishing touches (e.g., horseradish mango chutney, cranberry orange relish, cucumber dill cream), veggies, breads, and desserts.
Sfoglina has put together a Thanksgiving Dinner To Go that can be ordered for pick up on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. They will provide reheating instructions. A Thanksgiving Dinner for Two is priced at $180.
Order Deadline: November 22 @ 9pm
Pickup: November 25 at a time set when you place your order
Cost: $180 for 2
Highlights: Appetizers (arugula and bibb salad or Roman Stracciatella “egg drop” soup), pappardelle pasta, roasted Beaver Creek Farm turkey with traditional sides and dessert (choice of pumpkin or pecan pie), plus ½ gallon of local apple cider. Reheating instructions will be provided.
If you plan on making your own Thanksgiving meal, but are looking for a great dessert, here are two great options:
Thanksgiving desserts, including Bourbon Pecan Pie, White Chocolate Cheesecake, Pumpkin Pie, and Pumpkin Cheesecake can be pre-ordered and picked up between 11/20 and 11/25.

Pickup: November 19 through November 21, some pies will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis while supplies last. It is worth a try! On November 25, the shop will be open from 4:30pm – 6:30pm with any remaining pies if they are not already sold out. Expect a line!
